Lexile Levels
Many teachers have asked us for Lexile levels for HIP novels. The Lexile Framework for Reading (R) is a proprietary approach developed by Metametrics, Inc. to estimate readability for books. A number of school systems use the Lexile system, as does Barnes and Noble, so we have listed their results below.
In a general way, our HIP Junior novels have reading levels of grades 2-3 and are written to be read by students in grades 4 to 6. This corresponds to Fountas and Pinnell levels L & M and to Lexiles 350 to 450.

Our HIP Senior novels have reading levels of grade 3-4 and are written for students in grades 6-10. This corresponds to Fountas and Pinnell levels M & N and to Lexiles 500 to 700.
Our HIP Edge novels have reading levels from grade 2.5 to 4 and are written for high school students. Lexile levels range from 400 to 500.
