Character Report Card

We know that characters are the heart of fiction. Here’s a chance to let the kids be teachers and complete a report card on the characters in a novel. Together, come up with a collection of characters from the novel and a list of characteristics on which to evaluate them. (Brainstorm several characteristics and let students choose the 4-6 they’re going to use.) Students provide a grade of A-D, then they must add a comment to justify the grade with specific examples from the text. Click here to download a graphic organizer and a completed sample.
