Realistic characters, exciting plots and supportive text and layouts for upper elementary readers needing support in making the transition from picture books to novels.
HIP QUICKREAD CHAPTER BOOKS help struggling readers make the transition from picture books to novels. At about 70 pages, they’re designed to look just like the books all the other kids are reading. But with plenty of white space and illustrations, shorter sentences and simpler vocabulary, they help build the reading stamina necessary to tackle full pages of text and multiple chapters.
INTEREST LEVEL: Grades 3-6
TECHNICAL READING LEVEL: mid-Grade 1 to early Grade 2*
Note: HIP uses a variety of readability formulas to determine the reading level of every page of its novels. A mid-grade one reading level is an indication of the challenges of vocabulary and sentence length; it does not mean the content of these books is geared to six year-old readers.
